MINUTES OF THE OF THE SIDEWALK COMMITTEE HELD AT
THE
I.
PRESENT:
– Trustees Mike DeChaney, Jerry Peterson, Jesse
Watkins, Carolyn Elmore, and Village resident Dallas Embry. Village President
Friend arrived at 6:42 p.m.
Also present: Village Clerk
Austen Wood.
II.
BUSINESS:
Sidewalk and Curb Reimbursement Policy and Sidewalk Bid Updates-
Sidewalk Committee Chairman Jerry Peterson
brought before the Committee the bid packet for the Sidewalk Replacement
project, which was made available to bidders as of July 14, 2009. Peterson
mentioned possibly setting up a process in which the Village would be
responsible for picking up broken sidewalk from residents’ homes during the
process of having their sidewalk replaced.
The Sidewalk Committee is expecting the bid for the sidewalk project to
be around $24,000 as a very rough estimate. The recommendation for a
reimbursement cost at this time is around $20 per lineal foot for a four foot
wide by four inch thick slab of sidewalk concrete. These prices are meant to be
an incentive for the residents of Mackinaw to be more inclined to replace
sidewalks and curbs.
The bid for Monday, July 27, 2009 is a project for replacing sidewalk for
14 lots on Fast Avenue. As of right now, there is a $5,000.00 spending cap on
the sidewalk reimbursement appropriation.
