MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD AT THE MACKINAW MUNICIPAL BUILDING AT 7:30 P.M.
The meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
This was a regularly scheduled meeting.
I. ROLL CALL: Present: Board Chairman – Jerry Sweckard & Board Members – Ted Laidig, Chuck Lowery, Steve Powell Sr., Todd Smith, Jesse Watkins and Wes Nunley
Also Present: Recording Secretary Lisa Spencer and Zoning Officer Dallas Davis
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Regular Meeting – May 11, 2010
Nunley moved, seconded by Laidig to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of May 11, 2010 as submitted. motion carried.
III. ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT: Zoning Officer, Dallas Davis presented the Board with a report of all building permits issued for 2010.
Watkins moved, seconded by Laidig to accept the Zoning Officer’s report as submitted. motion carried.
IV. ZONING CODE ADDITIONS/UPDATES: “Use Changes” for the construction of apartments on ground level commercial zoned property is now permitted regarding all requirements of Ordinance no. 801 are met. In order to keep proper records on the requirements the board discussed adding additions for “use change” to the current building permit application and resolution of zoning fees. After discussion the Board agreed that building permits applications should include “use change” to the “Type of Work” section of the building permit application. The Board also agreed that an addition to the resolution of zoning fees be added for “use change” at the same cost as new construction of a main or principal structure.
Smith moved, seconded by Watkins to recommend to the Village Board to approve the suggested additions to building permits and resolution of zoning fees.
On a roll call, the vote was:
AYES: 7 – Sweckard, Nunley, Powell, Smith, Watkins, Lowery & Laidig
NAYES: 0
ABSENT: 0
There being seven affirmative votes, the motion carried.

V. OTHER BUSINESS: Chuck Lowery discussed with the Board his concern regarding new constructions with rear alley access for parking. He asked the Board to consider an addition to the Zoning Code to require that a variance be granted for this type parking for new constructions.
VI. ADJOURNMENT @ 7:50 P.M.
There being no further business to come before the Board, Nunley moved, seconded by Laidig to adjourn. motion carried.
