MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD AT THE MACKINAW MUNICIPAL BUILDING AT 7:30 P.M.
Chairman Jerry Sweckard called the meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals to order at
7:30 p.m. It was a regular scheduled meeting.
I. ROLL CALL: Present: Chairman – Jerry Sweckard and Board Members - Ted Laidig, Steve Powell Sr., Todd Smith and Chuck Lowery.
Absent: Board Member Wes Nunley
Also Present: Recording Secretary/Village Collector Lisa Martens and Josh Gillespie
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Regular Meeting – March 10, 2009
Smith moved, seconded by Lowery to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 10, 2009 as submitted. Motion carried.
III. ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT: A report was given to the Board containing the building permits issued in 2009.
IV. CODE CHANGE HEARING: A hearing was held regarding a drafted ordinance amending the Village of Mackinaw Code of Ordinances relating to fire wall and zero lot line duplex. No members of the public were present for this hearing.
Smith moved, seconded by Laidig to recommend to the Village Board to pass the drafted ordinance as submitted.
On a roll call, the vote was:
AYES: Sweckard, Smith, Lowery, Laidig, and Powell
NAYES:
ABSENT: Nunley
There being five affirmative votes, Motion carried.
V. 404 E FRANKLIN ST: Josh Gillespie came before the Board stating his possible interest in applying for a variance to exceed the maximum 30% lot coverage. This would allow him to build a garage next to the existing house and make the property more appealing to potential buyers. The board agreed with Mr. Gillespie and gave him the details involved in applying for a variance.
VI. ZONING CODE UPDATES/ADDITIONS: The Board discussed the possibility of adding residential wind turbine restrictions to the Village Zoning Code. The consensus of the Board was that further research will need to be done before a recommendation will be made to the Village Board.
VII. ADJOURNMENT @ 8:00 P.M.
There being no further business to come before the Board, Laidig moved seconded by Smith to adjourn. Motion carried.
