REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

 

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD AT THE MACKINAW MUNICIPAL BUILDING AT 7:30 P.M. 

 

Chairman, Jerry Sweckard called the meeting of the Zoning Board of

Appeals to order at7:30 p.m.  It was a regularly scheduled meeting.

 

   I.          ROLL CALL: Present: Chairman – Jerry Sweckard Board Members – Todd Smith,   Steve Powell Sr., Chuck Lowery, Jesse Watkins, and Wes Nunley

  

Absent:  Board Member Ted Laidig

 

Also Present: Recording Secretary Lisa Spencer and Paul Coovert

 

II.       APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Regular Meeting – May 12, 2009

 

Smith moved, seconded by Lowery to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 12, 2009 as submitted. Motion carried. 

 

III.       ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT:   Dallas Davis presented the Board with a report of the year to date building permits for 2009. He informed the Board of a notice from Tazewell County regarding a lot division within the Village limits.

 

            Watkins moved, seconded by Nunley to accept the Zoning Officers report as submitted.  Motion carried.

 

VI.       605 S. ORCHARD ST.:   Paul Coovert, owner of 605 S. Orchard St. spoke to the board regarding his application for a special use permit to allow three ground level residential units on the north end of his commercial zoned property as a way to increase revenue.  He explained that he has had little interest for commercial units but has had numerous requests for residential units.  Coovert feels this would also benefit the Village by bringing in more tax revenue. 

 

            Zoning Officer, Dallas Davis, found Paul Coovert’s application for a special use permit to be in proper form and set a hearing date for the July 14, 2009 Zoning Board meeting.  

 

VIII.    ADJOURNMENT @ 8:15 P.M.

 

There being no further business to come before the Board, Nunley moved seconded by Watkins to adjourn.  Motion carried.
