REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

 

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD AT THE MACKINAW MUNICIPAL BUILDING AT 7:30 P.M. 

 

Chairman Jerry Sweckard called the meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals to order at

7:30 p.m.  It was a regular scheduled meeting.

  

I.                   ROLL CALL: Present: Chairman – Jerry Sweckard and Board Members - Ted Laidig, Steve Powell Sr., Wes Nunley and Chuck Lowery. 

 

Absent:  Board Members Todd Smith and Tom Goings

 

Also Present:  Recording Secretary Lisa Martens, Zoning Officer Dallas Davis, and Brett & Chris Zehr

 

II.       APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Regular Meeting – December 8, 2008

 

Laidig moved, seconded by Lowery to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of December 8, 2008 as submitted. Motion carried

 

III.       ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT:  A report was presented to the Board listing all of the building permits that have been recently issued. 

 

            Nunley moved, seconded by Laidig to approve the Zoning Officer’s report as submitted.  Motion carried.

 

IV.      ZONING CODE CHANGE PUBLIC HEARINGA hearing was held regarding a drafted ordinance amending the Village of Mackinaw Municipal Code relating to storage sheds and maximum coverage on a platted lot.  Two members of the public attended this hearing. 

 

            Laidig moved, seconded by Nunley to recommend to the Village Board to pass the drafted ordinance and add it the Village of Mackinaw Municipal Code as submitted.

 

            On a roll call, the vote was:

            AYES:  Powell Sr., Lowery, Laidig, and Nunley

            NAYES: 

            ABSENT:  Goings and Smith

            There being four affirmative votes, Motion carried.

V.       ZONING CODE CHANGE PUBLIC HEARINGA hearing was held regarding a drafted ordinance amending the Village of Mackinaw Municipal Code relating to fences.  Two members of the public attended this hearing. 

 

            Powell Sr. moved, seconded by Laidig to recommend to the Village Board to pass the drafted ordinance and add it the Village of Mackinaw Municipal Code as submitted.

 

            On a roll call, the vote was:

            AYES:  Powell Sr., Lowery, Laidig, and Nunley

            NAYES: 

            ABSENT:  Goings and Smith

            There being four affirmative votes, Motion carried.

 

VI.     IGA UPDATE:  Brett and Chris Zehr presented the preliminary plans for the rebuild of the IGA store.  They are hoping to start construction in February 2009.  The Board thanked them for sharing the plans.

 

VII.   NOTICE OF HEARING FROM TAZEWELL COUNTY ZONING:    The Zoning Board reviewed a notice of hearing from Tazewell County Zoning Board of Appeals.  A hearing for Case No. 09-02-S is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2009 to consider granting a special use permit to create one new dwelling the property. The property is located immediately East and adjacent to 23256 Fast Ave, Mackinaw, IL and is with in one-half miles of the corporate limits of Village of Mackinaw.    

 

            Laidig moved, seconded by Powell to inform the Village Board that the Zoning Board of Appeals has no conflict with Tazewell County Zoning Board of Appeals granting this special use permit to Case No. 09-02-S to create one new dwelling.          

 

            On a roll call, the vote was:

            AYES:  Powell Sr., Lowery, Laidig, and Nunley

            NAYES:  

            ABSENT:  Goings and Smith

            There being four affirmative votes, Motion carried

 

VIII.    ADJOURNMENT @ 7:53 P.M.
